The Upper Mustang Trek known as “Last Forbidden Kingdom” that offers an extraordinary fusion of breathtaking desert- like atmosphere, with historic significance, and old Tibetan culture. This trek is located in the humid shadows of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks, the route pass through windswept valleys, rough directions and brilliant rock formation. The journey began Jomsom and travels through charming towns with whitewashed residences like Kagbeni, and Charang.
The major highlight of this trek is Lo Manthang, the wall capital of the former Kingdom of Mustang, where trekkers can visit the centuries-old monasteries, royal palaces and caves with the artwork of Buddhist. Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel in Thamel.
Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our guide will assist you after your arrival visa which take about an hour in the airport. After that, you will take to your Thamel hotel via a private vehicle. On the route we will see the glimpse of Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dedicated to Lord Shiva.
After checking in at hotel, we may unwind or explore the bustling alleys of Thamel, which is well – known for its busy markets, cafes, and cultural environment.
Day 02: Fly to Pokhara and then Jomsom to Kagbeni
During an abundant breakfast, we will travel to the airport for our picturesque 20–25 minute flight to Pokhara. We are going to take in the incredible vistas of the Himalayan range while in flight, including Langtang (7,227 m), Ganesh Himal (7,422 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), and Annapurna (8,091 m). With good fortune, we might perhaps catch a sight of the Fish-tail, which is Mt. Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), a frightful and famous peak close to Pokhara. Beyond that, we will see lakes (Phewa Lake and Begnas Lake), rivers (Trishuli and Marshyangdi), and undulating hills and valleys. In an effort to create a truly unforgettable Himalayan experience, we will travel through its uniquely Tibetan-influenced culture, visit historic monasteries such as Kag Chode Thupten Samphel Ling Monastery, and take in breathtaking views of the Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri peaks.
Day 03: Trek to Chele (3100m/10168ft). Trek time is 6/7 hour.
After having a warm breakfast, we start our journey begin our trek from Kagbeni to Chele (3100m/10168ft) that takes approximately 6-7 hours. The trail will lead us with opportunity to take in natural surroundings and rich cultural heritage of the Mustang region, the route goes to lead us through some of the most unusual vistas. Additionally, we are going to follow the Kali Gandaki River that will travel alongside riverbanks, areas of drought, and Tibetan accent societies. After arriving in Chele, we can unwind for a day and acclimate to the higher altitude while appreciating the breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
Day 04: Chele to Syangmoche (3475m) - 6-7 hours
We will continue our trek to Syangmoche (3475m) from Chele in approximately 6-7 hours. This path will takes us through a beautiful landscape, and spectacular mountain views of Mt. Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Nupste (7,855m), Ama Dablam (6,812m), and many more. Besides that, we will also cross several passes, including the Taklam La (3,624m) and the Dajori La (3,735m), ancient chortens and painted Mani wall hitting at the deep spiritual heritage of the region. Upon reaching Syangboche, we will witness the traditional mud-brick houses of Ghyakar and Samar villages, fluttering prayer flags, and warm local hospitality making it as a reward of our challenges to day.
Day 05: Syangmoche to Ghami (3460 m/ 11348 ft) – 5 hours
After having breakfast, we will trek from Syangmoche to Ghami (3460 m/ 11348 ft) that takes about 5 hours. During this trek, we will pass through a stunning landscapes blend with ancient culture, and majestic mountain views. Along the way, we will also witness the glimpse of mountains like Nilgiri (7,061m), Tilicho Peak (7,134m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna ranges, especially from high passes such as Yamda La (3,850m) and Nyi La (4,010 m). From there we can see the panoramic views of Mustang’s rugged terrain. Once we reached to Ghami known for its ancient monasteries, we will be welcomes by local where we can connect with their traditional lifestyles. This place will offers us a sense of both accomplishment and peace surrounded by the beauty of Mustang.
Day 06: Ghami to Charang (3560m) – 4 hours
We will have a short yet fascinating ascend from Ghami to Charang (3560m) that takes about 4 hours passing through Mustang’s breathtakingly gorgeous scenery and rich spiritual legacy. On the route, we will come across the longest Mani wall in the area along the route. It is a remarkable stretch of stone that is etched with holy Buddhist chants and is enclosed by ochre and red rocks that appear to be gushing water from the ground. Before crossing the Charang Chu River, the trail meander by little chortens, fluttering prayer flags, and desolate downward slopes. Whitewashed houses, the imposing red monastery of Thubten Shedrup Dhargyeling, and the remains of the old royal palace greet you as you ascend into Charang hamlet, providing a wealth of information about Mustang's spiritual and cultural history.
Day 07: Charang to Lo Manthang- 5 hours
One of the most magnificent stretches of the Upper Mustang trail, thanks to its stunning highland landscape and significant cultural value, passes through during the walk from Charang to Lo Manthang that takes about 5 hours. The trail commences in Charang and steadily climbs through windy landscapes and parched plateaus before arriving to the Lo La Pass (3,950m), which is where we are going to be rewarded with our first panoramic view of the famous walled city of Lo Manthang, surrounded by the snow-capped Himalayas. The spectacular landscape progressively gives way to a historic and spiritual ambiance as you make your way down into the old city. With its intricate network of whitewashed homes, historical monasteries, royal palace, and rich Tibetan-influenced culture, Lo Manthang pulls us into the center of the previously forbidden country and makes us feel just like you've traveled back in time.
Day 08: Day trip to Chhoser Cave- 6 hours
From Lo Manthang, we started away on an once-in-a-lifetime day trip to Chhoser, a remote settlement well-known for its historic sky caverns built deep into the cliffs. We journey through a strange environment of ochre canyons, wild grasslands, and abandoned villages all throughout the 6-hour round trip. We would explore the amazing Jhong Cave in Chhoser, a five-story constructed compound with more than 40 rooms that is thought to have been inhabited centuries ago by monks and local families. A fascinating window into the creative survival and religious rituals of prehistoric Himalayan societies can be obtained by these caves. We also come through chortens and tiny monasteries along the journey, which will let we discover more about Mustang's ghostly past.
Day 9: Lo Manthang to Dhakmar – 7 hours
The path to Dhakmar, which exits Lo Manthang, winds throughout high desert plateaus that offer constantly shifting views of distant snow-capped peaks and ochre cliffs. We will reach Ghar Gumba, one of Mustang's ancient cave monasteries that 2 hours into our 7-hour trek. It is set outstandingly on the Cliffside, and its praying wheels and chortens are a monument to the area's spiritual history. This journey then delicately rises before decreasing toward the Nyi La Pass, wherein the panorama opens toward to show incredible folds of red sandstone that are believed to have sculpted by future generations of wind. The settlement of Dhakmar, which is believed to be protected by the old deity Rangjung Khampa, is hidden away against enormous red cliffs as we drop into the area. Each step of this long day seems like an adventure through time and myth as we would see the peaceful monastery at sunset, the mud-brick houses of Dhakmar, and the fluttering prayer flags.
Day 10: Dhakmar to Ghiling- 6 hours
After having a warm breakfast, we will start our journey from Dhakmar to Ghiling that takes about 6 hours. The journey will brings we through breathtaking, wind-sculpted landscape that emphasizes the pure splendor of the Upper Mustang region. The stunning red cliffs of Dhakmar gives way to rolling slopes and high plateaus as you leave, with scattered chortens and main walls that encapsulate the character of the place. A further overhead vista of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountains will be offered as you return your route over the Nyi La Pass (4,010m). It can be windy on the descent to Ghiling, particularly in the afternoon, but the small village, dotted with barley fields and aged whitewashed houses, is a peaceful spot to rest. Ghiling is the perfect spot to take stock of your amazing journey thus far because of its peaceful environment and small monastery hidden in the hills.
Day 11: Ghiling to Chuksang – 6 hours
The journey from Ghiling to Chuksang takes roughly 6 hours and takes us through the Mustang region's well-known yet breathtaking landscape, that's full of striking cliffs, deep valleys, and expansive stretches of desert land. We'll travel past traditional villages like Samar and Chele on their descent, where we can once more feel the warmth of the people there and the cultural influences of Tibet. The trail continue as it takes us past ancient prayer walls and colorful chortens, and it gives amazing views of the Nilgiri and Tilicho peaks in the distance. The countryside becomes greener as we approach nearer to Chuksang, and the Kali Gandaki River resurfaces, winding along the valley bottom. Chuksang symbolizes the methodical ending to our amazing adventure through the enchanted realm of Lo and a tranquil return to lower levels with its gorgeous red cliffs and serene surroundings.
Day 12: Chuksang to Jomsom
The journey from Chuksang to Jomsom, the final trekking day, lasts 7 hours and gradually moves from the mystery peaks of Upper Mustang to the more recognizable paths of the upper Kali Gandaki Valley. The landscape changes from barren cliffs and wind-carved gorges to verdant hills and occasional communities as we continue south along the riverbed. We'll go through Tangbe and Kagbeni, reconnecting to the traditional architecture and spiritual allure that marked the beginning of our journey. Once we return to Jomsom, the altitude becomes more forgiving and the air rises thicker with each step. An appropriate finish to our incredible Himalayan journey, Jomsom welcomes us with a sense of accomplishment and contemplation, surrounded by majestic peaks like Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri.
Day 13: Jomsom to Pokhara- 20-25 minutes
We will take a flight from Jomsom to Pokhara in the morning that takes about 20 to 25 minute that gives us a final, breath-taking aerial discover of the deep Kali Gandaki Gorge below and the majestic Annapurna and Dhaulagiri hills. The greenery and tranquility of Pokhara gradually appear as you leave the rocky, windswept Mustang views behind. The rest of the day is yours to spend laying by the serene Phewa Lake, dining at the lakeside cafes, or taking a leisurely walk through the quaint streets of this laid-back lakeside city, and these signifies a tranquil transition from the high Himalayas to the vibrant lowlands. Day 14: Pokhara to Kathmandu

You will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your subsequent travel, based on your flight itinerary.
