Mardi Himal Trek is the one of most popular trekking destination nestled in the Annapurna region. Beneath the majestic Machhapuchhre (Fish-tail), this peak is named after the long ridge and its summit (5,587 m/ 18,330 ft.). In 1961, it was first summited by Basil Good fellow, Mardi Himal offers a remarkable tour across beautiful surroundings of nature and the cultural beauty of the remote settlements.
This trek promises to offer breathtaking views of the Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Hinchuli, and Mardi Himal, among other majestic Himalayan peaks. Besides that, we can explore the Himalayan dawn’s charms, exquisite hills and lush slopes on the journey. This trek is perfect for trekkers who are looking for peace and scenic views of nature.
Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu and transfer to hotel in Thamel. (1350m/4428ft)
Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival in Tribhuvan International Airport your journey begins with a warm greet by your guide and a smooth transfer to you hotel in Thamel, which is known for a vibrant energy of Kathmandu. On the route to the hotel, we will catch a glimpse of Pashupathinath Temple devoted to Lord Shiva (a UNESCO World Heritage). Once we reach to hotel, then you will have some time to unwind and prepare for the upcoming adventure.
Day 02: Fly to Pokhara (820m/2689ft).
After having a warm breakfast we will be followed by a journey to the airport for our flight to Pokhara that takes approximately 20-25 minutes. During the flight, we will witness the incredible vistas of the Himalayan range, like Himalayan range, like Langtang (7,227 m), Ganesh Himal (7,422 m), Manaslu (8,163m), and Annapurna (8,091m).If we are lucky, we might catch a sight of the Fish-tail i.e. Mt.Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), a scared and iconic peak near Pokhara. Beyond that, we will also witness sloping hills and valleys, rivers (Trishuli and Marshyangdi), and Lakes (Phewa Lake, and Begnas Lake). Upon arrival, we will be escorted to our hotel in Lakeside, where we can relax for the day before setting out for sightseeing stroll around the lakeside area.
Day 03: Drive to Dhampus (1700/5576ft) and trek to Deurali (1900m/6232ft). Drive time is 2 hour and trek time is 2 hour.
This is our starting day of our trekking adventure that will take us into the heart of the beautiful Annapurna region. After having breakfast at hotel, we will embark on a scenic drive to Dhampus that takes approximately 2 hours. This journey will provide an opportunity for us to witness the stunning views of the countryside, and natural beauty that awaits us on the trek. Once we reach Dhampus (1900m), we will start our trek towards Deurali. It is a shot trek that takes about 2 hours where we can experience local culture and landscapes. On the trail we will pass through picturesque villages, forests, terraced fields according to season and also giving vibe of rural life of the region. When we reach to Deurali (1900m) we will check into our accommodation where we will have a time to rewind and enjoying the magnificent mountain views.
Day 04: Trek to Rest Camp (2400m/7872ft). Trek time is 6 hour.
We will embark on 6-hour trek to Rest camp (2400m.7872ft) after having breakfast. The trail will pass through a beautiful landscapes including small villages (Tamang and Sherpa), terraced fields and dense forests of pine, oak and rhododendrons. Besides that, we can also enjoy the breathtaking views of surrounding mountains and green valleys. Depending on the journey, we might see the clear views of some of the highest peaks of the region, such as Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, and Manaslu. Once we reach to Rest Camp, we will have can relax along with a warm meal and peaceful surroundings.
Day 05: Trek to Upper Camp (3600m/37628ft). Trek time is 6 hour.
This will be our challenging day of trekking as, we have to reach a higher altitude (3600m/37628ft). So we might feel uneasy because of the effects of thinner air. We will start out journey from Rest Camp to Upper Camp which takes approximately 6 hours. Our trail starts with a lush forest filled with oak, bamboo and rhododendron. Beside that our path will become steeper and rocker, therefore, careful footing is required. On clear days, we might also spot the breathtaking views of mountains – Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fish-tail), Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. As we go higher, we will also catch the glimpse of Himalayan monal’s (Nepal’s national bird), musk deer and langurs in the forest area. Upon reaching Upper Camp we will take a rest while soaking in the stunning mountain views, preparing ourselves for the next stage of the trek.
Day 06: Hike to View Point (4200m/17056ft) for Sunrise and panoramic view of the mountains. Trek back to Upper Camp and after breakfast trek down to Rest Camp (2475m/6406ft).
Today is the most exciting as well as rewarding day of our trek. We will hike up to Viewpoint (4200m/17056ft) for Sunrise and panoramic view of the mountains peaks of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fish-tail), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and other surrounding mountains. We will pass through alpine terrain under the starlit sky to capture the unforgettable views of sunrise for photographs. After enjoying the majestic views, we will trek back to Upper Camp for a warm breakfast before going back to Rest Camp. Upon reaching Rest Camp we will unwind and reflect on the incredible journey.
Day 07: Trek to Pothana (1565m/5137ft). Trek time is 6 hour.
After spending a peaceful time in the rest camp, we will begin our trek towards Pothana (1565m/5137ft) that takes approximately 6 hours leading us through a diverse landscape. Our route descends through dense forests, passing through traditional villages and terraced fields where we will witness the local lifestyles and culture. As we approach Pothana we will be welcomed by the breathtaking views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After we arrive, we will settle in and relax in the ambiance of Pothana.
Day 08: Trek to Dhampus and drive to Pokhara.
This is the final day of our trek as we descend toward Dhampus. Our journey starts from Pothana to Dhampus passing through lush forest, terraced fields and traditional villagers along with stunning views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre ranges. Upon reaching Dhampus, we will take the short drive back to Pokhara, a vibrant lakeside city. Once we reach Pokhara, we will catch up to our hotel. We can relax or explore the city depending on the situation.
Day 09: R&R in Pokhara.
This is our relaxation and rest day. So, today is all about enjoying the peaceful vibe of Pokhara. After having a breakfast with mountain views we can walk along the Phewa Lake or get massage or spa treatment to relive sore muscles. Besides that, we can also visit Davis Falls & Gupteshwor Cave, Mahendra Cave, Shanti Stupa, and many more. We can chill at a lakeside café with mountain views. And, if feel like going out for live music and drinks there are many places to visit in evening.
Day 10: Fly to Kathmandu.
After a refreshing stay in Pokhara, we will take a flight back to Kathmandu that will take about 25 minutes. Once we reach Kathmandu, we will check into our hotel. Depending on our energy level we can either rest at a hotel or explore nearby Thamel markets.
Day 11: Departure.
This is the final day of our journey through the Himalayas and Kathmandu valley. After checking your flight details we will ensure you leave for the airport at least 3 hours before departure
